The Refuge is a premier waterfowl and white-tailed deer hunting destination with
approximately 1.37 miles of Trinity River frontage near Trinidad, Texas. The
property is nestled in a prime location within the heart of East Texas, approximately
an hour from Dallas and Tyler, and 15 miles from Athens. Additionally, the property
is ideally situated approximately 2 miles from Cedar Creek Reservoir,
and 10 miles from both Lake Corsicana and the renowned Richland Creek Wildlife
Management Area, which hosts some of the largest waterfowl populations in Texas.
Upon arriving at the main entrance, The Refuge greets its visitors with a stunning
40-acre upland landscape. It offers rolling topography and beautiful stands of Post
Oaks, alongside an idyllic agrarian setting. The upper 40 is also home to a trophy
bass fishing lake and accommodations in the form of a Barndominium. This
structure is ideal as a camp destination, offering a cooking area and bathroom
complete with utilities, couches, and a flat screen TV. The outer area of the barn is
perfect housing for a ranger, duck boat, decoys, and other supplies.
The remaining 340 acres is a picturesque bottomland hardwood landscape, which
includes strategically developed flooded timber units, road systems, and food plots
with deer blinds and feeders. In addition to river access, the property also boasts a
27-acre private lake with custom duck blinds. The Refuge’s ideal location, beautiful
and unique natural features, and premium developments make it an extraordinary
outdoor recreation retreat.
